The RI Rebounds Placemaking program is a state-wide effort that seeks to support the tourism and hospitality (including events) industries that have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Placemaking Initiative will provide approximately $3 million in total subawards to support outdoor and public space capital improvements and/or event programming, with grants supporting both larger programs (amounting to approximately $200,000) and smaller programs (amounting to $75,000 or less).
Examples of supported programs include projects designed to draw visitors to impacted districts and support businesses in the tourism and hospitality industries and may include public art installations, maintaining/improving public parks, plazas and/or recreational areas, as well as events and COVID-safe programming such as outdoor performances, outdoor food festivals and other special events.
Proposers include: nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, municipalities, business cooperatives, tourism regions, and arts/cultural institutions.
This program is being run via a Request For Proposals and is now available. It is anticipated that this RFP will run in two rounds. The first round of responses to this RFP are due no later than March 23, 2022. More details and additional eligibility details can be found within the RFP. Download the RFP here.
