2024 Summer Events Mini Grants – Placemaking Initiative

The Summer Events Placemaking Mini Grants Initiative will support outdoor and public space event programming that takes place during the summer months with grants between $25,000 to $50,000.

Proposers are encouraged to design and offer programs, activities, and events that draw visitors and support businesses in the tourism and hospitality industries across Rhode Island.

Eligible Proposers

Nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, municipalities, business cooperatives, tourism regions, and arts/cultural institutions.

Examples of Eligible Projects 

• Outdoor performances
• Outdoor food festivals
• Art and lighting installations

Proposal Deadline

The deadline to respond to this Request for Proposal (RFP) is April, 19, 2024.

Proposal Submission
Responses to this RFP must be received as follows: One (1) electronic (PDF) version must be provided by email to RFP@commerceri.com on April 19, 2024 by 11:59 p.m.. Submissions that are late, misdirected or sent to the wrong email address will not be accepted.

RI Rebounds Placemaking Initiative

The RI Rebounds Placemaking Initiative is a state-wide effort that seeks to support the tourism and hospitality (including events) industries that have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, the Placemaking Initiative provided nearly $3 million in subawards to support outdoor and public space capital improvements and/or event programming, with grants supporting both larger programs (amounting to approximately $200,000) and smaller programs (amounting to $75,000 or less).
