Mutual of America Announces Opening of Providence Regional Office | Rhode Island Commerce

New regional hub with 20 employees opened in late September

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 22, 2019) – Mutual of America Financial Group, a leading financial services company specializing in retirement plans and investments, recently opened a new regional office in downtown Providence. The company, which has served customers in Rhode Island for decades, moved into its new office as part of the continued expansion of its retirement plan business in the state and throughout New England.

Mutual of America’s decision to open the office took into consideration discussions with various Rhode Island government officials, including Governor Gina Raimondo and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, and Rhode Island Commerce. The company is looking to access the strong talent pipeline in the greater Providence metro region.

“It’s exciting that a major financial services company is choosing Rhode Island for its new regional office. When I first spoke with Mutual of America about moving here, they told me the same thing I hear from every company: their top consideration is a talented workforce. The significant investments we have made over the past few years in education and job training have helped us recruit dozens of companies to our state, and we need to keep our foot on the gas,” said Governor Gina Raimondo.

“We are so excited that Mutual of America has decided to call Providence home for their new regional office,” said Mayor Elorza. “We welcome them and all of their employees to our city and hope that they find Providence to be a place where they can thrive and grow.”

“We are very pleased that Mutual of America has decided to open this new regional office and become part of Rhode Island’s strong – and ever stronger – economic ecosystem. We’re confident that the company will grow and thrive here,” said Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Mutual of America to ensure the success of its new office in our Ocean State.”

“Expanding our presence in Providence reflects our ongoing commitment to customers in Rhode Island, allowing us to enhance the level of quality personal service we provide and that they expect from us,” said John Greed, Chairman, President and CEO of Mutual of America. “We appreciate the gracious welcome given to us by the city and state, and look forward to becoming a vital and visible part of the city’s thriving and growing business community.”

As a celebration of the new office opening and the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of Providence, Mutual of America is sponsoring the WaterFire Providence lighting on October 22 at 6 p.m.
