Senior Graphic Designer

Statement of Duties

The Senior Graphic Designer will be a key creative force within the Rhode Island Commerce marketing team, responsible for designing impactful visual materials across print, digital, and social platforms. This role requires a highly versatile designer with strong organizational skills to manage Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, capture and edit original photography, retouch images, design infographics, and produce engaging social media graphics that drive brand visibility and engagement.

Essential Functions

  • Concept, design, and produce creative assets including but not limited to:
    • Event branding, trade show signage, and collateral
    • eBooks, whitepapers, and PowerPoint presentations
    • Product data sheets, brochures, and advertisements
    • Infographics for print, web, and social media
    • Email campaigns, landing pages, micro-sites, and digital ads
    • Social media graphics, including templates for recurring content
    • Short-form video and motion graphics
  • Manage and maintain the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, ensuring assets are well-organized, tagged, and accessible to the entire team.
  • Capture original photography at events, press conferences, and Rhode Island landmarks for marketing campaigns.
  • Conduct photo retouching, image optimization, and color correction to ensure high-quality output.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including PR, content, and economic development to ensure creative assets align with broader marketing and strategic goals.
  • Design infographics to visually communicate data and key messages for reports, presentations, and social media.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and marketing team to develop creative concepts aligned with organizational goals and campaign strategies.
  • Analyze social media performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve creative impact.
  • Ensure all creative work adheres to Rhode Island Commerce's brand standards and visual identity across channels.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.

Professional Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Graphic Designer (agency or in-house setting).
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects).
  • Experience with website design tools like Webflow or similar platforms.
  • Experience working within a DAM system, maintaining file organization and metadata best practices.
  • Photography experience, including composition, lighting, and post-processing.
  • Strong expertise in photo retouching and image editing for both print and digital applications.
  • Skilled in designing infographics, simplifying complex information into clear, engaging visuals.
  • Experience creating graphics optimized for multiple social platforms (aspect ratios, file types, trends).
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and applying performance data to future design decisions.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes and ability to prepare print-ready files.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative creative team.

Classification

Regular Full Time – 37.5 Hours per week. Salary/ Exempt
