Senior Advisor

RI Commerce is seeking a Senior Advisor to join a dynamic team of mission-oriented professionals. This position provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on job creation and economic opportunities for the citizens of the State of RI.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, industry, and financial research to support business recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts.
  • Prepare proposals and presentations that communicate key findings and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor trends and usage demand in industrial and office real estate; provide strategic guidance on acquisitions and development opportunities.
  • Identify and engage top-performing companies in the State, leveraging revenue and employment data to generate business development leads.
  • Maintain accurate records of business engagements and visits in Salesforce to ensure transparency and follow-up.
  • Deliver monthly engagement reports to senior leadership, highlighting progress, outcomes, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with accelerator programs and innovation hubs to foster growth in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Proactively develop and implement strategies to promote Rhode Island as a premier destination for commerce and investment.
  • Lead or support high-impact special projects that align with organizational priorities.
  • Work closely with the President & CEO and other senior team members to fulfill the mission and requirements of the Senior Advisor position.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant professional experience or demonstrated high level of success related to business development, sales, investor relations, or a related area in government or private sector.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or advanced degree.
  • Significant client/stakeholder interaction and experience, particularly showing the ability to develop strong and influential relationships.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Self-motivated, creative, organized, and deeply committed to personal and organizational success.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately and to interact with professionals at all levels in all business units.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
