Senior Advisor

Rhode Island Commerce is seeking a Senior Advisor to join a dynamic team of mission-oriented professionals. This position provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on job creation and economic opportunities for the citizens of the State of RI.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison between the Executive Office of Commerce and Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to align priorities and foster collaboration.
  • Lead initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness, streamline processes, and drive long-term operational efficiency and impact.
  • Support internal teams with structure and focus to advance projects and execute deals effectively and strengthen ongoing business relationships.
  • Champion cross-functional initiatives, anticipate challenges, and remove barriers to accelerate growth and enable faster decision-making.
  • Provide regular reports and maintain accurate records of business engagement, pipeline progress, and economic outcomes.
  • Represent Rhode Island Commerce with credibility at high-level meetings and events, fostering partnerships that drive long-term growth.
  • Lead or support special projects that promote innovation and competitiveness.
  • Engage with entrepreneurial accelerators to support scalable ventures and attract investment.
  • Work closely with the Secretary and senior team members in the Executive Office of Commerce and at the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, including its President & CEO, to fulfill the mission and requirements of the Senior Advisor position.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant professional experience or demonstrated high level of success related to business development, sales, investor relations, or a related area in government or private sector.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s, J.D. or other advanced degrees preferred.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Self-motivated, creative, organized, and deeply committed to personal and organizational success.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately and to interact with professionals at all levels in all business units.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
