Vice President, Business Development

Melissa Simon, PhD, serves as a Vice President of Business Development with a focus on life sciences. Melissa is responsible for strategically growing Rhode Island’s life science ecosystem through out-of-state business attraction and expansion of current in-state companies.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, Melissa held positions in biomedical research, technology transfer, and consulting. Most recently, Melissa was a Senior Director with a boutique healthcare and life sciences strategy consulting firm focused on pharmaceutical market access, pricing, and reimbursement.

Melissa brings extensive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, development, and commercialization.

Education

Melissa holds a BS in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in biomedical engineering from Columbia University.
