MATT SHEAFF
Director of Communications and Stakeholder Outreach
Matt serves as the Director of Communications and Stakeholder Outreach for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation. In this role, Matt develops, advises on, and oversees the communications and outreach strategy for the state’s commerce agencies including the Executive Office of Commerce, Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, Department of Business Regulation and the 195 Commission.
Professional Background
Prior to joining the Administration, Matt has held senior communications positions in both Federal and State government as well as with national non-profit organizations and campaigns. Specifically, Matt served as the Director of Communications for the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development in the Administration of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. Sheaff also served as a Senior Communications Advisor at the Office of Head Start within US Department of Health and Human Services offering strategic communications and policy advice on a range of issues related to early education policies for the agency. Sheaff has also served in leadership positions with Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs and the Strong American Schools Campaign.
Education
Sheaff holds a BA from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH and sits on the Board of the Providence Children’s Museum.
