Jamie Buck serves as the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Manager for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation.

Professional Background
Jamie joins the Commerce team with a wide range of experience in the renewable energy sector. Most recently, Jamie performed contract work for the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, where she assisted with a variety of grants and special projects. Prior to this, Jamie worked for National Grid as an Associate Consultant in the Customer Energy Integration division. In this role, she managed the integration of utility scale distributed generation projects – namely solar fields – into Rhode Island’s electrical grid.

Education
Jamie graduated with her Master’s in Marine Affairs from The University of Rhode Island in 2019, having completed her thesis analyzing indicators of public acceptance of offshore wind energy development. During her time in graduate school, she was accepted into the URI Energy Fellows Program, which placed her in a year-long internship with The Office of Energy Resources (OER). Previously, she worked as a Research Assistant on a BOEM grant analyzing the effects of the Block Island Wind Farm on Rhode Island tourism and recreation activities.

Before moving to Rhode Island for graduate school, Jamie worked for Riverfront North Partnership, a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia doing land remediation work along post-industrialized riverfront areas. She got her Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. A native New Englander, Jamie is passionate about developing the region’s blue economy.
